PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Coeur d'Alene, Lake City tie for third at Lakeland tourney

RATHDRUM - Coeur d'Alene and Lake City tied for third in the gold bracket, while Post Falls tied for third in the silver during the Lakeland Invitational on Saturday.

Natalie Taylor totaled 49 kills and 28 digs, Shelby Johnson 25 kills, CC Cates 68 assists and 32 digs for Lake City (5-3), which hosts Ferris on Monday.

Megan Ramseyer totaled 34 kills and 39 assists, Missy Huddleston 22 digs and 12 assists and Ali Williams 46 assists for Coeur d'Alene (9-1), which finished tied for third in the gold bracket with Lake City. Coeur d'Alene travels to Lewiston, which beat University in the championship game, Tuesday night.

Amanda Westlake had 23 digs and 20 kills, Lydea Schneider 42 assists, Cassidy Jackson five blocks and Jasmine Haskew nine aces for Post Falls (7-6), which travels to Sandpoint on Tuesday.

Taylor Martin hammered 32 kills to go with 35 digs on the day, Darbey Scrimsher finished with 118 set assists, Kayla Neumann 28 kills, Lexi Riley 17 kills and Amy Shepard 25 kills and 23 digs in for Sandpoint (8-6), which finished 2-1 on the day.

Sandpoint coach Erin Roos felt her team showed considerable improvement over a previous loss to Lake City on Thursday.

"I was really happy with the chemistry on the court today," Roos said. "They played selfless and as one. We ran out of gas in the afternoon, but we will build off the moments of greatness we saw throughout the tournament. Taylor Martin showed a lot of leadership today, and Taylor Lunde scored some key points for us. Darbey distributed the ball well, and Kayla Neumann and Lexi Riley had some huge blocks."

The Bulldogs host Post Falls on Tuesday.

Kelsey Auer had 35 assists and four blocks, Kari Ghramm 13 kills and 18 digs and Catherine Flach four blocks for St. Maries, which finished the day with a loss to Post Falls.

"They're still familiarizing themselves with each other on the court," St. Maries coach Amy Scheer said. "Overall, it was a good day. We played some tough teams and did really well."

MULLAN - Charli Sadler had 18 kills, four blocks and three assists, all while playing with the flu, to lead the Tigers past the Knights 26-24, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23 in a North Star League match at the Mullan Pavilion.

Bree Ploharz had seven aces and Robbyn Trogden 14 assists for Mullan (4-0, 2-0 NSL), which travels to Wallace on Thursday.

Rachael Arthur had 16 digs, Te'a Lambert had seven kills, 28 digs and five aces, Talia Hendrickx had 24 assists, eight digs and two aces for Lakeside (0-5, 0-2), which plays Tuesday at Liberty.

"I think we started slow and we need to come out stronger in the future," Lakeside co-coach Karyn Stockdale said. "Rachel had excellent net coverage today. Te'a had an exceptional game. Talia did a great job of running the offense."

COEUR d'ALENE - Katelyn Stegman had 15 aces and 13 assists for the Royals in a 25-12, 25-10, 25-17 nonleague win over the Crusaders at Venture High.

Devon Haag had five kills and Rayla Andrews seven digs for North Idaho Christian (3-1), which hosts Christian Center on Tuesday at Venture High.
