POST FALLS - Police deployed stun guns on a wanted 28-year-old Post Falls man with 25 previous arrests after he was confronted for suspicious late-night activity at the Post Falls Senior Center.

Colby J. Walker, who had a $10,000 warrant for possession of stolen property, was booked into the Kootenai County jail early Wednesday for obstructing, probation violation and disturbing the peace.

Officers were on night patrol along Third Avenue across from the senior center when they saw Walker near the donation area of the business, according to a police report.

"This is an area that has frequent thefts," the police report stated.

When confronted, Walker, who was wearing dark clothing and had been riding a bike without a light, told officers he was checking the trash bin.

After officers learned that Walker was wanted, he appeared nervous and was evasive in his responses to questions, according to the report.

When he was asked to remove his backpack, Walker allegedly ran from officers through the parking lot.

One officer missed Walker with a stun gun, while another struck him in the lower back. Walker continued to run toward the community garden behind the center. Finally, after repeated commands to stop, Walker complied and laid on his stomach on the ground, police said.

"Immediately upon being taken into custody, Colby apologized for running from us," the report stated. "He ultimately advised he was aware of the warrant and that he was just scared because he was on probation and did not know what to do."

Walker was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene before being transported to jail. He has been arrested 25 previous times as an adult, including for possession of drugs and paraphernalia, theft, eluding, DUI and driving with a suspended license.
