| September 12, 2014 9:00 PM

POST FALLS - The Norwegian Heritage Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Oddfellows Hall in Post Falls, 200 E. Railroad Ave.

The event, sponsored by the Sons of Norway, is open to the public.

Dave and Tony Powell, local musicians and craftsmen who have Norwegian heritage, will entertain lunch guests at 12:30 p.m.

The Powell brothers made the Freedom Harp from the former Freedom Tree, a Norwegian Spruce that was removed for McEuen Park in Coeur d'Alene.

Robert West, a physician, longtime Kootenai County coroner and Sons of Norway member, will speak.

He will conduct a discussion and book signing at 11:30 a.m. His book called "It Can (and Does) Happen Here" has stories from his years of work for the county.

Coffee and pastries will be sold from 10-11 a.m. Early arrivals will be able to watch two baking demonstrations, ebelskiver and rosettes, at 10:30 and 11, respectively.

The fair will also offer a bake sale including lefse, jewelry with viking motifs, rosemaling, Norwegian and Swedish 2015 calendars and more. A silent auction, used books and a kids corner are other features.

Norwegian stew, cucumber salad, shrimp aspic salad, pear compote, cookies and coffee comprise the lunch menu available for $8 for adults and $4 for ages younger than 18.
