Julie Fenton Nash

| September 11, 2014 4:17 AM

Julie Fenton Nash, 67, of Florence, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014 at St. Patrick Hospital.

Julie was born on February 8, 1947 in Austin, Minnesota to Harold and Evelyn Fenton.  She grew up in Red Lodge, Montana and graduated from Red Lodge High School.  She studied education at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, graduating with a BA in 1969, the same year she married Dennis Craig.  They went on to move to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where they welcomed a daughter, Adrienne.

Julie taught elementary school in Coeur d’Alene for more than 20 years and was a creative, well known, and much loved educator in the area.  She spent her summers performing with the Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre, a local professional theatre organization, as well as in various other theatres in the surrounding area during other times of the year.  She loved to perform both on stage, and behind the scenes in the pit orchestra, playing clarinet, oboe and saxophone.  She was a talented seamstress and used her skills as a costumer as well.

In 1989, after the end of her first marriage, Julie married Thomas Nash. Tom and Julie spent several years running Cricket on the Hearth, a theatre themed bed and breakfast, in   Coeur d’Alene.  Julie loved to cook and entertain, and their business gave her the opportunity to play hostess, something she took great pride in.  She always made people feel welcome, and often opened her home to gatherings with friends and family.

One year ago, Julie and Tom moved to Florence to be closer to what Julie loved most, her daughter and her grandchildren.  She enjoyed some wonderful times with her family over the past year.

Survivors include her husband, Tom, Florence; daughter Adrienne Gross, Missoula and foster daughter Chrystal Burns, Eugene, Oregon and their families; niece Lee Kachner, Roundup, Montana and her family, and 3 grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, September 14 at the Missoula Children’s Theatre from 2-6pm.
