BALUKOFF: Ads don't tell the truth

| October 30, 2014 9:00 PM

I am writing this letter in response to all of the misleading information that is being put out there for our voters to use in making a decision on who to vote for in the gubernatorial race in November. We should all go to the polls armed with the correct information. Let me tell you about education and how much control the present governor, Butch Otter, controls how our tax money is spent.

First of all we are constitutionally bound to balance our State budget each year. A committee exists that sets that budget and our legislators from both the House and the Senate pass that budget and then it goes to the Governors office for signature. Simple as that.

The school districts in our state have also prepared their budget for the upcoming year and eagerly await the check from Boise to see what they can really do.

Governor Otter does not have a say in anything about education after the budget is signed into law.

Governor Otter has no say in who the school board hires to teach our children the things they should learn. We do have an elected Superintendent of Education for the State who does oversee the statutes concerning education

It is insulting to our intelligence to have such outright lies in the ads that AJ Balukoff is putting out there. It is time to correct this scandalous behavior.

I now know that I could never believe anything that AJ Balukoff says because it is so easy to catch him in the blatant untruths and I really feel embarrassed for those teachers and that superintendent who are allowing their names to be used in such a manner.

Shame on you.
