Richard Adrian Bockholt, 88

Richard Adrian Bockholt, 88, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away Oct. 20, 2014, at home. He was born March 4, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Henry Bockholt and Anne Frazier Bockholt.

Richard was a graduate of East High in Salt Lake. He enlisted in the service, trained at Farragut Naval Base in 1944, and was stationed in the Marshall Islands during World War II (Kwajalein Island) as a Pharmacist 1st Mate. He attended the University of Utah, later returning to school in '65 and graduating from BYU in 1966.

Richard worked at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, and then at the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake. He spent 20 years in California and Texas working as a civilian for the federal government, retired from federal service in 1978, but then went to work for Salt Lake County.

On May 18, 1991, Richard married Berta Philipp Walker in Jordan River, Utah. Richard and Berta moved from Salt Lake to North Idaho in 1996 after retiring.

Richard was preceded in death by his second wife, Orvilla Johnson Bockholt; sons David and Richard; two brothers, Walter and Harmon; and his sister, Ruth.

Richard is survived by his wife, Berta, at home; sons Kenneth Tate of Salt Lake City, Robert Bockholt (Glynneth) of Orem, Utah, Joseph Bockholt of Chicago, Ill., and Frank Walker of Post Falls, Idaho; daughters Sieglinde Walker of Coeur d'Alene and Janelle Johnson of Salt Lake City; and daughter-in-law Lanette Powell of West Jordan, Utah.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, with the funeral service planned for 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Coeur d'Alene. Burial will be at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake.
