WUEST: Another side to the man

| October 17, 2014 9:00 PM

As a resident of Dalton Gardens since the mid-’70s I have lived next to the Wuest family. Otis Wuest was the water master back then and spent many unpaid hours working and repairing our water lines so we could keep our yards and gardens green. Robert Wuest helped his father on a lot of projects in our city and soon took over the water master position when Otis no longer could.

I have over the years personally witnessed Robert working late into the evening on the irrigation and back at it at the crack of dawn. When the fire hydrants were revamped and new ones installed he used HIS tractor and equipment to complete these tasks, at no charge to the city. Using the city’s backhoe to do some personal tasks may have been wrong but I did notice no one complained over the years when he used HIS equipment for city tasks.

It’s amazing how one person can complain and bring charges against another that could have been settled at a City Council meeting and not front-page news. Well, that’s the end of my ranting. Thanks for reading my letter, God bless and have a great day.
