Shelby Starr and Allison Kirby recorded hat tricks in the Timberlake Tigers' 6-2 win over the third-seeded Priest River Spartans in a 3A District 1-2 tournament semifinal match on Tuesday at Teeters Field in Kellogg

"The girls really stepped up in the second half," Timberlake coach Steve Michael said. "They didn't give up, and took care of business."

Second-seeded Timberlake (9-4-1) faces top-seed Coeur d'Alene Charter in the championship match on Thursday at 1 p.m. at United Community Methodist Church.

Priest River finishes 7-7.

KELLOGG - Katie Baxter recorded a hat trick, including her 50th goal as a Panther in a victory over the Wildcats in a 3A District 1-2 tournament game at Teeters Field.

"Kellogg played us very tough," said Coeur d'Alene coach Dave Baxter, who was named the Intermountain League's Coach of the Year following the match. "But the girls worked hard and broke through with some timely goals."

Coeur d'Alene Charter (13-1-1) hosts Timberlake in the district championship match on Thursday at Community United Methodist Field.

Kellogg finishes the season 1-14.

MOSCOW - Harley Hendry scored in the 80th minute on an assist from Darby Dowd for the Hawks, who lost to the Bears in the opening round of the 4A Region 1 tournament at Oylear Field.

Lakeland finishes 6-8-3.

Moscow (4-9-1) visits Sandpoint (6-6-2) in the regional championship match on Thursday, with the winner advancing to the state 4A tournament at Lake City High.

PRIEST RIVER - Cody Bentley and Thomas Hauck each scored two goals for the No. 2 seed Tigers, who took a 4-1 halftime lead in their victory over the No. 3 seed Lumberjacks in the 3A District 1-2 semifinals.

"It started out fairly close," Timberlake coach Bert Bentley said. "They scored first, we had to gather ourselves up and put it back together and played really well."

Jean Pierre-Arras scored the first goal of the game just three minutes into the game for St. Maries (8-7). But Cody Bentley tied the game 10 minutes later, followed by Hauck's go-ahead goal in the 20th minute. In the 68th minute, Bentley, who was named to the all-Intermountain League team along with Vance Kistler and Hauck, scored his 35th goal this season.

Timberlake (9-2-2) plays top-seeded on Thursday at 3 p.m. at United Community Methodist Church in Coeur d'Alene, district championship game.
