PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Lake City ties for seventh at prestigious Spokane tourney

SPOKANE - Brittany Gay totaled 64 assists for the weekend for the Lake City Timberwolves, who finished tied for seventh out of 64 teams in the Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic.

Lake City beat Eisenhower High of Yakima 25-23, 25-21, Decatur High of Federal Way 25-20, 27-26, Sandpoint 25-19, 26-24 and Camas 25-22 and lost to Northwest Christian 25-21, 25-20 and Battle Ground 20-25, 25-18, 15-12 to finish the weekend 4-2.

Natalie Taylor had 44 kills, Nina Carlson 12 blocks and five aces, CC Cates 35 digs and Tatumn Gould 35 digs and five aces for Lake City (13-8), which hosts Moscow on Tuesday.

Auburn Riverside won the tournament, beating Battle Ground in the finals.

Post Falls finished 1-4 on Saturday, beating Granger (Wash.) 25-18, 20-25, 15-13 and losing to Cedar Park Christian 25-17, 21-25, 15-8, Lakeside (Wash.) 25-21, 27-25, Skyview of Nampa 25-15, 25-18 and Colville 25-15.

Allison Munday had 20 kills, Amanda Westlake 15 kills, Brooke Bowers 15 kills and 26 digs, Lydea Schneider 38 assists and Andra Beck five aces for Post Falls (9-16), which faces Lakeland and Glacier High of Kalispell in a tri-match Tuesday in Rathdrum.

Kelsey Auer had 40 assists and six blocks for St. Maries, which finished 0-6 in the tournament.

Kari Ghramm had 20 kills, Cassandra Scott 14 digs for St. Maries (8-15), which travels to Timberlake on Monday.
