ARTICLE: Local is always better

| November 30, 2014 8:00 PM

I find it inexcuseable that the Press had to “import” an article for Thursday’s Outdoor section about Casting for Recovery in Sisters, Ore. Casting for Recovery is alive and well right here in North Idaho, and has been for over 3 years. The North Idaho Flycasters in partnership with the Kelly Creek Fly Fishers of Lewiston, have sponsored Casting for Recovery retreats for the past three summers at the Shoshone Base Camp. 14 women have participated each year in all expense paid adventures on the beautiful Coeur d’Alene River. The Press even printed pictures of our last fundraising dinner this last October, but apparently wasn’t interested enough to ask about the program or assign someone to do a little “investigative” reporting and discover that this program exists right here. The Casting for Recovery regional director for North Idaho and eastern Washington is Charlene Douglas who lives in Lewiston.
