McEUEN: Please keep it pristine

| May 18, 2014 9:00 PM

Kudos to the city of Coeur d’Alene for the new McEuen Park. Living in North Idaho my whole life, this was the first time I have ever had a reason to go to McEuen. My family and I took our three grandsons on Mother’s Day to enjoy the new play area and sunshine. The park was packed and filled with laughter as the children ran through all the areas playing in the sand, climbing rocks or swinging on the swing sets.

I can’t wait until the entire park is completed. Walking by the dog park, there were a few responsible owners who had their dogs playing in the nice fenced doggy park. I’m sure the rest of my letter will spark criticism, but there are signs all around the rest of the park saying No Dogs Allowed. I hope that the city will start enforcing this as the play area had at least 20 dogs and their owners mingling around where the kids were all playing. Yes, they were on leashes, but families were sitting on the new grass and I hate to see the grass and hydro-turf turn into just another place for dogs to relieve themselves. It was a hard fight, so let’s keep McEuen a clean place to enjoy with our families.
