MALEK: Smart and conservative

| May 15, 2014 9:00 PM

In looking at the choices in the upcoming Republican primary race for Legislative District 4 (which encompasses most of the city of Coeur d’Alene), the choice couldn’t be more clear. Luke Malek has already done an excellent job serving the Fourth District. He has fought to bring jobs to our community, keep federal control out of our healthcare system, and protect constitutional rights. He’s not afraid to stand up to political power players in order to represent the people of his district. Luke grew up here, went to school here, knows our issues and people, and has planted his roots here.

His opponent Toby Schindelbeck, on the other hand, recently moved to Idaho after failing to get elected in his previous home of Chico, Calif. He is so new to our area that he has never even voted in a Coeur d’Alene election. He has no idea of the history or priorities of North Idahoans, what issues are important to us, or even who we are as members of this community. Yet he thinks he should represent us in the Legislature? Baffling.

We need solid, conservative, intelligent representation in Boise. We need someone who actually knows his community, its people, and its issues and not a recent transplant who knows nothing of us. We need someone who will stand up to some of the current foolishness in the Republican Party and not someone whose priorities include taking away your right to vote for your U.S. Senator. We need to keep Luke Malek!
