This family is beyond dysfunctional.

They're homicidal maniacs.

"Arsenic and Old Lace" opens tonight at Lake City Playhouse, 1320 E. Garden Ave., Coeur d'Alene.

The black comedy revolves around Mortimer Brewster, a theater critic, and his crazy relatives.

There are two spinster aunts who are sweet, but not so innocent. They like to serve guests a nice glass of wine with a pinch of deadly poison, and then put them in the cellar.

Then there are Mortimer's two insane brothers: one is a murderous psychopath and the other thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt.

The show runs tonight through May 18. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $11-$17. Buy online: lakecityplayhouse.org or call (208) 667-1323.
