Let down your hair with CYT's Rapunzel

| May 2, 2014 9:00 PM

Christian Youth Theater-North Idaho is bringing "Rapunzel, a Magical Musical" to the stage in Coeur d'Alene.

Performances will run May 16-25 at the Salvation Army Kroc Theater, 1765 W. Golf Course Road.

There are 75 local children busy in rehearsals for the production of this original musical.

The story begins in a land of joy and harmony. This utopia does not last long as the king incurs the wrath of a selfish, scorned enchantress. Exiled from the kingdom and restricted in magic by the Witchery Advisory Committee, the enchantress kidnaps the innocent Princess Lovely.

Having forgotten her true name and her royal heritage, Rapunzel grows up trapped in a tower with only birds for company. While the Enchantress schemes to gain control of the W.A.C., Rapunzel's false peace is disrupted by a swashbuckling stranger and a parrot claiming to be a victim of the enchantress' spells.

As the story continues, Rapunzel must gain the courage to take charge of her life and make her dreams come true no matter the obstacles.

Performances are May 16, 17, 23 and 25 at 7 p.m., and May 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 3 p.m.

Ticket prices are $5-$15, and are now on sale at the CYT-North Idaho website: cytnorthidaho.org; or by calling the box office: (208) 277-5727.
