Ashley Brian Day, 85

| March 31, 2014 12:15 PM

Ashley Brian Day, 85, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ashley was born in Welling, Kent, England, to Harry and Mini Day on December 27, 1928. He grew up in a loving Christian home, accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior through his Sunday school class. From childhood he found pleasure in his love of music, playing a variety of instruments, as well as enjoying a love of literature and God’s beautiful creation. Following his education and two years in the British Army, he met and married the love of his life, Edna Kersley. On a rainy day in London 1956, they attended a Billy Graham Crusade that would change their lives forever. In keeping with the beautiful hymn sung at their wedding, “Oh Jesus I have promised to serve you to the end,” Ashley and Edna, with their young family, began serving the Lord in a lay ministry in the country churches on the Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, England.

In 1959, Ashley and Edna immigrated to the United States to continue their ministry. From small country churches to sizable congregations, as well as ongoing world wide radio Seed-Time Ministries, the Lord used Ashley’s faithful teaching of the scripture to bring many into a relationship with Himself.

Ashley was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harry and Minnie Day, of Cornwall, England. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edna, of Coeur d’Alene; sister, Audrey Beare, of Cornwall, England; five children: Jennifer Webber (Colin) of Beaverton, Ore., Alyson Wayman (Doug), of Coeur d’Alene, Nicola Rowe (Brad) of Post Falls, Jillian of Coeur d’Alene, and Andrew Day (Jan) of Hayden; six grandchildren: Tarris, Adrian, Ashley Brian, Katie, Joshua and Nicholas; and one great grandson, James.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 5, at Coeur d’Alene Bible Church, 5350 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, with Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene in care of the arrangements. Burial will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. The family prefers memorials to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, Idaho 83835.
