Norma M. Segoria, 95, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014, at Hospice House of Coeur d’Alene, surrounded by her family.

Norma was born in Vallejo, Calif., April 24, 1918, to Malio and Mary Caprini. She grew up as part of a large Italian family, and graduated from St. Vincent’s High School in 1936.

Norma grew up wanting to become a hairdresser. While in high school, she charged her friends 25 cents to style their hair. Norma attended cosmetology school in San Francisco, making a daily round trip commute via train, ferry and bus. She later worked at a local hair salon in Vallejo.

In 1941, Norma married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Connick. They had one daughter, Joan, before Bill was killed in action during World War II. Norma later married James Lambert, and they had one daughter, Jane. She was then widowed a second time in 1971.

Norma spent many years enjoying her family, friends and hobbies. She loved needlework and various crafts. Norma volunteered for many years with the Catholic Social Service organization, and was a longtime member of St. Basil the Great, Catholic Church in Vallejo, Calif.

After attending her 50th class reunion, Norma renewed her friendship with an old classmate, Fermin (Bud) Segoria. They married in 1988, and enjoyed traveling, golfing and time with their families and friends. Sadly, after only two years, Norma was once again widowed. She spent the next few years traveling the world and enjoying her family. In 2001, Norma moved to Coeur d’Alene, ID to be with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Malio and Mary, two sisters: Anne Corbett and Elizabeth Cavanagh, and many lifelong friends. She is survived by her two daughters: Joan (Dave) Fister, and Jane (Randy) Thomas, of Coeur d’Alene; granddaughters, Joanne Fister, and Janet (Steve) Bradford; great-grandchildren: Jacob and Abbey Waterdown, Riley Thomas, Brady and Kelsie Bradford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norma’s family would like to thank all of the caregivers and staff at the Courtyard Coeur d’Alene for the loving and compassionate care that she received during the last six years. Her family also appreciates the loving care they provided at the Hospice House during her final days.
