Recent reports from Kootenai County law enforcement agencies

Post Falls

* A woman filed a report stating that her son stole her debit card over the weekend and charged $400 to $700 on the card.

* A citizen was informed by a neighbor that an approximately 18-year-old man was stopping by the residence to pick up the citizen's 13-year-old daughter. Officers made contact with the girl who denied there was anything inappropriate going on.

* A man who suffers from dementia was reported missing and reported to be driving his 1947 Hot Rod Dodge truck with flames on it. Officers put out alerts and searched the city for his vehicle with no results. He returned home safe.

* A man left his dark green 1991 Ford truck parked on the west side of Walmart after an altercation with his son's fiancee, and the truck was later stolen. It was later located and recovered by officers.

* A woman was stopped for speeding and texting. After the officer made contact with her it was discovered that her license is suspended. She was cited and released.

* A fraud report was taken from a woman in reference to another woman using the victim's name to purchase car insurance.

* Officers responded to 12th and Highway 41 to assist an EMS crew with an out-of-control patient in the back of the ambulance.

* A vehicle hit a deer on Interstate 90 just east of the state line. No one was injured but the vehicle had to be towed.

* During a routine traffic stop, an officer smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Five juvenile subjects were detained while officers searched the vehicle. Marijuana was found and seized. The parents were called to pick up their children and the one juvenile who was in possession was petitioned for the offense.

* Officers located vandalism to one of the picnic tables at White Pine Park.

* A citizen reported being contacted by a phone caller who stated that he had won a grant but needed to send in $300 to receive the funds. The citizen realized this was a scam and is not out any money.

* A female was taken into protective custody after making suicidal statements.

* A citizen reported being contacted by his bank after it received an email on his behalf requesting funds. This citizen confirmed that he had not sent the email and is not out any money at this time.

* A man was issued a citation for shoplifting from Walmart on Mullan.

* A possible prowler/peeping tom was reported in the Fieldstone development. A man, described as approx 5 feet 8 inches, medium build, with dark hair was seen in front of a residence. The man left when he was seen and got into a dark sedan with a fin on the trunk.

* A wheelchair was found on Quail Run. A report was taken and the wheelchair stored as found property.

Coeur d'Alene

* A woman reported her home was broken into and items were stolen while she was in the hospital. She told police she posted on Facebook that she had been hospitalized. The items reported missing include an eight-pack of Lipton tea, 2 pounds of lean hamburger, a rack of ribs, four boxes of Hot Pockets, a bag of burritos, a box of orange chicken, a $1,600 wedding ring, 150 pills valued at $84, and a $20 box of bullets.

* A husband and wife reported $1,170 in silver coins, 10-ounce silver bars and cash were stolen from various locations in their home.

* A car prowler reportedly rummaged through a car parked at a Lakeside Avenue address, and took the faceplate from the car stereo, but left the stereo.

* About $10,000 in jewelry, a $400 rifle, a $200 digital camera, $50 in change in a plastic container, $10 in a coin purse, and $100 in cash were reported stolen from a car parked in a garage and a safe also in the garage. Also taken were a driver's license, Social Security card, Idaho food stamp card, EBT debit card and a library card.

* 14 pills and $40 in cash were reported stolen from inside a Julia Street home.

* Tools were moved and a small rake was reported stolen from a shed.

* A golf bag, golf clubs, a black windbreaker jacket, a range finder, and various golf tees and accessories valued at $1,410 were stolen from a car left unlocked while parked at Costco.
