DOG: Police need more training

| July 16, 2014 9:00 PM

Are you kidding me! A “vicious pit bull” turns out to be a black Lab. Well, I guess a pit bull sounds better as we all know pits are vicious.

I don’t know what CDA PD’s shooting policy is but I’m guessing the officer who shot the Lab doesn’t either.

I would like to hear the recorded calls about a person in a van watching little girls, as that sounds like a convenient excuse for having a weapon out.

It appears to me that CDA PD officers are poorly trained, lack discipline and are in dire need of supervision. It appears they have a “shoot first and investigate later” mentality which in this day and age in unacceptable.

The fact that they took the body of the Lab and left a business card on the windshield without locating the owner of the vehicle is unbelievable. That they needed a vet to tell them that the dog was a lab-mix and not a pit bull is equally disturbing.

If I lived in the city I would be outraged with the conduct of CDA PD’s incidents as they are one of the highest paid departments in the state and one would think that they would be one of the best run departments in Idaho.
