Edythe Adelle Hartman, 83

| July 3, 2014 1:06 PM

Our Lord and precious Saviour has called another one of his children home. My wonderfully sweet Mom, Edythe Adelle Hartman, passed into the loving arms of our heavenly Father on June 29, 2014.

Edythe was born September 30, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Edythe and Willard Wadstein. She joined her older sister, Beverise Mae, on that glorious day our Lord had made. Edythe lived and attended grade school in Chicago before moving with her family to Denver, Colo., in 1943. She graduated from high school in Castle Rock, Colo., in 1949. After graduation, Edythe attended business school and worked in Denver.

In August 1957, Edythe married Army Sgt. Reginald Hartman. While they were stationed in Germany, their only child, Patricia Anne, was born. Edythe and Reginald were later divorced in May 1968.

Edythe accomplished many wonderful things during her lifetime, but her greatest accomplishment was just being the best Mom ever. She gave her time, and extended her kindness, to all she met, and her love of our Lord was reflected in her daily life. The most precious gift she gave to her daughter was to believe in God with all your heart.

Edythe was preceded in death by her parents, Edythe and Willard Wadstein, of Sandpoint, Idaho; sister, Beverlee Mae Kenehan, and brother in law, James R. Kenehan, Sr., of Laramie, Wyo. She is survived by her only child, Patricia Christensen, and son-in-law, Craig Christensen, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; nieces, Bonnie Lyman (Richard), of Fort Worth, Texas, and Deborah Whitley (Warren), of Fort Lupton, Colo., nephews, James R. Kenehan, Jr., (Janie), of Laramie, Wyo., and Paul Kenehan (Nell), also of Laramie; and many great nieces and nephews.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was only one. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow and defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord, "You promised me, Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?" the Lord replied, "The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you."

My mom, Edythe, will surely be missed by all who loved her, but the Bible promises that we will see her once again in heaven. So, Mom, those who love you dearly, especially me, are looking forward to that wonderful day when all of us will be reunited in Heaven.

Please join Edythe's family in celebrating her life at at 1 p.m., Friday, July 11, at English Funeral Chapel; reception to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you hug your loved ones every day, and let them know how very much you love them.
