Police investigate alleged kidnapping

POST FALLS - On Saturday, Post Falls police officers responded to a potential kidnapping, where they encountered a woman with an "unclear and inconsistent" story.

Officers arrived at 2509 N. Highway 41 and spoke with a woman who told them a man she had met on a dating website had held her against her will, a police report states.

The alleged victim and the man - whom the alleged victim referred to as "Tony" - had met on two occasions prior to Saturday. Although she said they were not dating, she told police that they "had sex the second time they hung out."

According to the report, "Tony" picked up the alleged victim in Spokane on Saturday before driving to Post Falls to pick up another woman at an apartment complex.

The trio continued driving and, according to the report, "Tony" asked the alleged victim for $110.

"Tony threw her purse to the female in the back of the vehicle," the report states. "(The alleged victim) said the female looked through her purse, finding no money."

Officers were told that "Tony" started to get angry and the alleged victim suggested they call her friend to see if he had any money. Her friend didn't have any money, according to the report, and upon hearing this "Tony" reportedly struck the alleged victim in the face with a closed fist.

The trio went to 41 Express gas station, where the female exited the vehicle and headed into the store.

"(The alleged victim) said that she asked Tony if she could use the bathroom, but Tony told her 'No,' then locked all the doors," the report states. "She attempted to get out and unlock the vehicle multiple times, but Tony was holding down the automatic door lock so she could not get out."

The alleged victim told officers that she began yelling for help and once the doors of the car were unlocked she was able to jump out and get help from a bystander.

The Post Falls Police Department is still investigating the incident, and the report states that the alleged victim has not returned phone calls from the department asking her to confirm her address and come in for follow-up questioning.
