PACKAGES: Lateness the least of problems
I haven’t seen a letter yet addressing the late Christmas deliveries, so I’ll submit one.
I have had disappointments at Christmas, but having a gift arrive late or a gift for a child arrive late is nothing compared to the real problems many people are facing right now.
What strange values these upset people must have! How about our armed forces who are in foreign countries a long way from their families, and maybe in danger and in very uncomfortable circumstances? How about the police officers, nurses, fire fighters — all those who spend their Christmas taking care of others? Then there are those who are sick or injured, and those who have lost loved ones. There are too many to list here.
But those who are unhappy about a late package need to take another look around them and appreciate their circumstances. If all they are missing from an otherwise perfect Christmas is a late package, maybe they should go back to THANKSGIVING and start the season over.
Thank you,
MARY MURDOCK
