Viking girls hoops title celebration this morning

An assembly honoring the Coeur d'Alene High girls basketball team, which won the state 5A championship last weekend in Nampa, will be today at 9:30 a.m. in the school gymnasium.

Sutton verbals to play baseball at Seattle U

Coeur d'Alene High senior Sean Sutton has verbally committed to play baseball next year at Division I Seattle University.

Sutton, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound, left-handed pitcher and first baseman, earned all-state and All-5A Inland Empire League honors while leading the Coeur d'Alene baseball team to a second-place finish at state.

Region 18 tournament to be streamed this week

Games with the North Idaho College men's and women's basketball teams in the Region 18 tournament will be streamed online starting Thursday at www.youtube.com/snowbadgerTV.

The No. 3 seed NIC women (21-9) will take on No. 6 Colorado Northwestern (7-21) starting at 11 a.m. PST.

The No. 3 seed NIC men (20-10) will follow against No. 6 Colorado Northwestern (8-21) at 1 p.m.

BAM Jam USA tournament location, date has changed

The BAM Jam USA 3-on-3 basketball tournament has been moved to March 22-23 at the Borah Sports Complex in Boise.

The tournament is a qualifier for the USA basketball national championships at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Divisions will be: women's and men's open, and men's and women's under-18 (must be born between Jan. 1, 1996 and Dec. 31, 1997).

Winners of each division, as does the men's open runner-up, advances to nationals.

Each team is guaranteed four games and will be played by FIBA rules.
