COEUR d'ALENE - The North Idaho Building Contractors Association (NIBCA) is a local, nonprofit trade association dedicated to promoting and protecting the local building industry as well as the rights of homeowners and the residents of North Idaho. The business of building new homes represents a large segment of our economy as well as in realizing a key element of experiencing the American dream of homeownership. The NIBCA members take great pride in their trade and performing their part in that.

During the final day of the Idaho Building Contractors Association's (IBCA) Winter Board meeting held last month in Boise, NIBCA member Angela Erickson, of Panhandle State Bank, was presented the 2013 Spike Retention Award for the state of Idaho. Erickson was recognized for the highest retention rate of new NIBCA members which are also members of the state and national associations for the year of 2013. Within the home builder associations, the coveted Spike Award is given to recognize members for their recruitment of new members. Erickson receiving the award meant that within the state of Idaho, those new members joining NIBCA through her efforts were retained at a higher rate than any other Spike member in Idaho.

In addition to winning the cherished Spike Retention Award, Angela was also installed as IBCA's 2014 National Associate Director and now sits on the Executive Committee for the state association. Erickson's responsibilities include being the primary contact between IBCA and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) on matters related to associate member activities including membership, events, education and government affairs.

Also being sworn in and joining Erickson on the IBCA Executive Committee was NIBCA's outgoing president, Barry Stearns of Timbered Ridge Homes. As Stearns has recently passed along to Matt Fisher of Ginno Construction the reigns of NIBCA, he looks forward to serving as the vice president/secretary for IBCA in the coming year. Stearns' commitment includes filling the position of IBCA president in 2017.
