Was that a wiggle in the Wiggett's window?
<p>Playing a live mannequin, Dawna Boggs sits motionless among a sales display just a few feet away from an actual mannequin Friday during A Chocolate Affair, a tasting event hosted by the Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association.</p>
COEUR d'ALENE - Dawna Boggs loves vintage style, and she gets a kick out of surprising people.
So it's only natural that the Post Falls resident posed as a living mannequin in Wiggett's Marketplace in downtown Coeur d'Alene during the Downtown Association's Chocolate Affair sampling tour Friday evening.
"It has been really fun," said Wiggett's vintage clothing dealer Gloria Powell. "People are just astounded at how perfect she can sit there and just be like a statue."
Boggs, also known as pin-up persona Rebecca D'Alene, giggled as she talked about her experiences working as a live mannequin in the last year or so.
"I have a habit of (spooking) people most of the time, not on purpose, but I'm good at it, so I might as well," she said.
Boggs sat on the red Victorian-style couch in the entryway of Wiggett's across from an actual mannequin, giving the effect that she also was inanimate. She wore a 1950s vintage dress she described as "dead stock."
"It has never been worn, it has never been sold," she said. "It still has the original tags on it, which is very, very rare."
Wiggett's owner Johnny Berry of Post Falls also laughed about having a living person pose as a mannequin.
"I think it's a really nice touch," he said. "Who else has a live one?"
He explained that children will stare in the store window and experience a bit of a shock when they realize she's not a dummy.
"It really surprises some kids," he said.
