TRAPS: An ugly reflection of man

| February 2, 2014 8:00 PM

I don’t think there is a humane person out there who didn’t feel outrage after reading The Press article of Tuesday, Jan. 28, “Another pet dies in trap.” Our hearts go out to the pet and its owners just as if they had lost a family member, which in fact they did.

Do we feel outrage also when a non-pet is caught in a trap? Does an undomesticated (wild) animal not suffer the same pain? And what does it say about our civilization when our laws approve of, and allow, such devices as traps?

The implications about indifference to suffering and to killing animals at any time has far-reaching implications: Albert Einstein said: “Until men stop killing animals, they won’t stop killing each other.” Let’s think about that.
