BREAKFAST: This year's event a huge success

On Sunday, Dec. 14, The Hauser Lake Fire Department held our 29th annual Shaleena's Breakfast With Santa Benefit to help a family with a child battling cancer. This year's event was a huge success with over 1,800 people attending. I would like to express my appreciation for the entire community's support for the event. More than 60 fire department and 4-H club volunteers came together to make this event happen; along with our community's generous support in turning out for the event and the individuals, businesses and community members who donated to make the event a huge success. I am honored to be a part of this community and fire department whose generosity is overwhelming. Many businesses and organizations, including Kootenai County Deputy Sheriffs Association, Kootenai Good Sam, Champion Concrete, Hauser Lions, Astro Electric, Coeur d'Alene Honda, and many others too numerous to name, donated to this year's event. It is a testimony to the caring nature of the people of our area.

It is humbling to feel that I can be, in some small way, a part of this community whose generosity in coming forward to help those in need is truly phenomenal. It is even more so when you consider that ours was not the only charitable event and that many of those who supported our event also gave their support at other events and fundraisers.

Once again, on behalf of all of us at Hauser Lake Fire, our heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the benefit such an overwhelming success. You are all the true "Heroes" of our community.

Sincerely,

Larry L Simms

Chief, Hauser Lake Fire
