Military academy nominations listed

U.S. Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho, has announced his nominations to the United States military academies for 2014.

Five Coeur d'Alene students are nominees, including: Justus Grammar, U.S. Naval Academy; Jonathan Yake, U.S. Military Academy at West Point; and Reilly Cherry, Isaac Christensen and Yake, all U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

The nominees were selected from dozens of applicants and will now be considered by the academies for appointment.

"This year's nominees have met the high standards required to attend our military academies and each of them have demonstrated a level of commitment to our nation that is commendable," Risch said. "They are each truly deserving of this honor and I applaud them for their efforts."
