Male suspect attempts to rob Post Falls pharmacy

POST FALLS - A white male suspect attempted to rob a Post Falls pharmacy on Friday night and allegedly displayed a knife during the incident, according to police.

The suspect fled the Trading Co. Store on Seltice Way around 6:30 p.m. on foot. He demanded Oxycontin, but left empty-handed, said Post Falls police Sgt. Mark Brantl. There were no injuries.

Brantl said the suspect was wearing a dark blue hoodie, a gray mask that covered his face from his nose down, and gloves. He is described as 20 to 30 years old.

"He displayed a 6-inch knife and jumped over the counter," Brantl said. "As the suspect jumped over the counter, the employees bailed out the other end of the counter. He attempted to grab one of the employees, but it really wasn't that close. He didn't even try to look for any (drugs)."

The suspect then fled the store and headed across Seltice Way in the area of Bay Street, the railroad tracks and Idaho Veneer.

A police search that included a K-9 unit was unable to locate the suspect.

Police are investigating whether there's any connections to the other recent pharmacy robberies in the region, including in Coeur d'Alene earlier this week.

"The suspects have similarities, but there's no way to link them at this point," Brantl said.
