PRESS: Doesn't respect veterans

| December 12, 2014 8:00 PM

Well I see that the Coeur d’Alene Press is up to its old ways. You do not seem to respect our older veterans or veterans in general. We had Pearl Harbor Day and of course nothing on the front page about one of the most important historical events in our history. Now you did put two pictures of the kids at Winton Elementary having a celebration of the day. At least the kids are remembering.

It is a sad time when our local paper cannot put a front-page article in The Press with an interview from a veteran who was at Pearl Harbor. We are losing our World War II veterans each day. Lets honor them by remembering what they went through. That is the problem in our country these days in that a lot of people, the media in particular, want to change history and not tell about the true history about our wars and veterans. You do the same thing on D-Day and Veterans Day.

I moved back to Idaho in 2009 and I am still amazed at the way the history is not talked about in our Press. I lived in the Seattle area for awhile and the Seattle Times had articles on the historical events and that is in a very liberal area. It is like if you don’t talk about it, the facts will go away. I have written about this before to The Press and still you don’t have an article on the front page of the event. I am sorry to see this. Maybe The Press can wake up and respect our veterans and our country and start having some articles on the actual days of the historical events.

Now I do know that you respect our veterans but write about them from all the wars. If not for them we would not have the country we have. I am not a vet but I thank each and every one of them for their service to this country.
