Ruth Anderson Luhnow, 92, of Post Falls, Idaho (formerly of Mission Hills, Kan.), died Dec. 5, 2014. A memorial service will be held at a future date.

Ruth was born in Chicago, Ill., on Feb. 2, 1922. Her parents were Charles Stewart Anderson and Lydia Neill Anderson. Ruth graduated from Shawnee Mission High School, Overland Park, Kan., in 1939 and went on to Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., for two years. In 1941 she changed her major to pharmacy and went to the University of Kansas, graduating in 1944. While enjoying a career as a pharmacist, a mutual friend introduced her to Raymond B. Luhnow Jr., an engineer at Burns and McDonnell Engineering Company. The attraction was immediate and they were married on Sept. 6, 1947. They enjoyed 67 years of happy married life together.

Ruth was a very active volunteer supporting the school and scout programs of her children. She also was active as a docent at the Nelson Gallery of Art in Kansas City. Her primary interest was growing things, most of all roses. She was a Master Consulting Rosarian of the American Rose Society and was awarded a bronze medal for her dedicated work in the Kansas City Rose Society for more than 50 years. She was also a Master Gardener and especially enjoyed working the hotline where she could help gardeners with their problems. She was also an active volunteer in many other organizations.

Ruth was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and is now enjoying the sweetness of eternal rest with Him. She shared Jesus in neighborhood Bible studies and taught the Bethel Bible Series in Sunday School and in her home. She was very active in her church, including being a Life Elder in the Presbyterian Church. Recently she was a member of the Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City.

Ruth and Ray particularly enjoyed traveling together, much of it international. They also enjoyed getting the family together at different places around the country. When Ray retired they took up golf and played as often as possible.

Survivors include her loving husband, Ray, and their four children and their families: Raymond Christian Luhnow of Las Vegas, Nev., Mark Frederick Luhnow and wife Diane of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and their children, Kelsi and Jonathan, Steven Kirk Luhnow and his wife, Desiree of El Dorado, Kan., and their children, Zachary and Amanda, Tiffany, Elizabeth and Case with son Konner, Susana, Katie and Caleb, and Nancy Ruth Luhnow Vossler and husband John of Elizabeth, Colo., and their children, Kristina and Galen Ritter with daughter Melody, Victoria and Elizabeth. She is also survived by many other close, loving friends and relatives all over the world.
