PREP BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Sparks' double-double lifts Vikings

| December 10, 2014 8:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - Senior Elliott Sparks scored 14 points and hauled in 11 rebounds and the Coeur d'Alene Vikings scored 47 points in the second and fourth quarters combined to beat the Northwest Christian Crusaders of Colbert, Wash., 62-54 in nonleague play Tuesday at Elmer Jordan Court.

"Elliott Sparks was outstanding," Vikings coach Kurt Lundblad said. "I thought he was the difference in the game. He did all the little things. Without him on the floor, we don't get the 'W'. He had an oustanding game. He was really the only player we had who played consistently for all four quarters. It was far and away the best game he's had as a Viking."

Tony Naccarato added 14 points and 15 rebounds for Coeur d'Alene (2-2). His younger brother, sophomore Joey Naccarato, had 15 points and five assists. Brody Lundblad added 11 points.

"We finished both halves fairly strong," Lundblad said. "We didn't play very well in the first and third quarters. We weren't ready to play at the tip. We were a little sloppy. But the boys persevered through that and that's on me, we've got to make sure we're ready to go from start to finish. It was a tight game the whole way."

Riley Ricks scored 20 points for Northwest Christian.

Once we figured it out, we were able to make some passes and get some easy baskets. That's some early season stuff, it takes some getting used to, so we'll make some adjustments and go from there."
