POLICE: Earning our gratitude

| December 10, 2014 8:00 PM

I want to thank the Coeur d’Alene police, Idaho State Police and all the other agencies involved with the stand off that took place Nov. 29 on Quincy Court with John Crispin. I watched as the night progressed and was impressed with how they handled the situation and kept us informed.

I immediately got a call as soon as shots were fired and told that officers were outside ready to take my daughter and me to a safe place. No neighborhood wants to experience anything like we did.

The days to follow as officers investigated, they treated us very well. They were kind and always ready to help or answer our questions. They helped us get back into our homes as soon as possible. While some neighbors could not get in their homes and worried about their dogs, the officers made sure that they were taken care of.

I want to especially thank Officer Rios for being sensitive to making sure our children were OK. He arrived Monday with a stuffed animal for each one and words of comfort. He extended hugs and hand shakes to them along with a tour of his police car. He went the extra step to help us all feel safe in our homes again.

As a single mom with a daughter I felt that my safety and emotional well-being were taken care of by all the wonderful officers involved. Thank you all for what you do for our community.
