OFFICERS: Where is the compassion?

| August 22, 2014 9:00 PM

To the Coeur d’Alene PD officer who shot the dog while doing the vehicle search/investigation: I am glad that you were not physically injured by the dog that most probably presented you with a mouthful of teeth (edged weapons) at face level. I have had my thoughts of what probably occurred based upon my experience but well-knowing that everything is not always as it appears I have withheld comment until the investigation is complete. Let not the slings and arrows of the ignorant deter you from your police career.

Where is the anger of these same people when it comes to the mother and child murdered by the estranged husband in Post Falls? Does not the slaying of a woman and her 6-year-old girl who apparently was only trying to protect her mother not illicit anger and a call for justice? Where is the compassion for the officers who responded to and investigate such horrific crimes? With all due respect to the dog owner and among others, the author who penned the “it’s just a dog” commentary, humans rank higher than dogs in my humble opinion.
