On target to support the community

POST FALLS - Center Target Sports believes it has hit the bull's-eye when it comes to supporting the community.

The Post Falls business will hold its third annual Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in support of the Post Falls Food Bank, Inland Northwest Blood Center and Toys for Tots.

Several prizes, including five guns, will be given away during drawings at the event.

"For every item brought in for the food bank or every toy for Toys for Tots, a ticket for the drawings will be given," said Peggy Santos, who owns the business with husband Ed. "Bring in 40 cans of beans and receive 40 tickets."

Last year's event generated 7,500 pounds of food, 71 pints of blood and four large totes of toys.

"We're very excited about beating last year's numbers and helping out our community," Santos said. "This will be an action-packed day."

This year's event will include a swap meet in which sellers can have a booth for free (no guns can be sold); bullwhip, police dog, police robot and gun demonstrations; free hot dogs and lemonade; free shooting in the range; an appearance from Spokane Chiefs mascot, Boomer the Bear, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a gun and ammunition sale; games and giveaways.

Whipmaster Joe Strain will be on hand to demonstrate his bullwhip and handgun skills. He has been featured on "Inside Edition."

You do not need to be present to win the guns, but you must be present to win other prizes such as holsters, Chiefs tickets and memorabilia, summer theater tickets, a tent, knives and shirts.

Food items needed at the food bank include tuna, soup, cereal, rice, pasta, beans, canned fruit, boxed dinners, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese and fresh produce.
