SPIRIT LAKE — Sophomore Brittany Hibdon hit a clutch one-out single to score Ashley Carhart for the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning, as the Timberlake Tigers won the Intermountain League title with a 6-5 win over the Bonners Ferry Badgers on Tuesday.

“Without a doubt,” Timberlake coach Mike Menti said, when asked if this was the best game his team played this season. “To get that one in the bottom of the seventh was pretty clutch for the girls.”

Carhart reached on a walk with one out to start the rally. She advanced to second on a bunt by Shelby Salois. A passed ball allowed both runners to advance, putting runners on second and third.

It was Timberlake’s ninth IML title in 10 seasons. Kellogg won the league last year.

Timberlake (10-8, 7-1 IML) opens play Monday in the 3A District 1 tournament at 5 p.m. at home against either Kellogg or Bonners Ferry.
