PREP SOFTBALL: Tigers score 49 runs in IML sweep

BONNERS FERRY - Justina Kalar finished with 11 hits and eight runs scored on the day as the Tigers swept an Intermountain League doubleheader against the Badgers, winning 27-15 and 22-11.

Olyvia Owen drove in nine runs in the second game for Timberlake (7-6, 5-0 IML), which travels to Kellogg on Tuesday.

"There was lots of offense today," Timberlake coach Mike Menti said. "Pitching wasn't very good for both teams and defense wasn't good either. But it was good to get two wins on the road, but they weren't pretty games."

MacKenzie Carle drove in five runs in the second game for Bonners Ferry.

LEWISTON - Katie McDermott had an RBI single in the first game and an RBI double in the second game for the Trojans in a 5A Inland Empire League doubleheader against the Bengals at Airport Park.

Post Falls trailed 4-3 after three innings in the first game before Lewiston pulled away for the win.

"We played pretty well in the first game and were right there until the fourth inning," Post Falls coach Jack Foster said. "In the second game, it just felt like we didn't compete hard. I felt we were in the first game and got beat, but were kind of down in the second game."

Post Falls (0-11, 0-6 5A IEL) travels to Coeur d'Alene on Tuesday.

MOSCOW - Haley Adams led Moscow's offensive onslaught by going 7 for 9 with two homers and nine RBI in the Bears' sweep of Lakeland in 4A Inland Empire League play.

Lakeland led the second game 6-0 early, but Moscow's Deven Chandler eventually tied it with a two-run single in the fourth and Cheyenne Barnard gave the Bears the lead for good with an RBI single.

In the second game, Lakeland's Katie Kastning had three hits, including a home run.

In the first game, Kastning had four hits and Schorzman had three hits, with two doubles for Lakeland (6-7, 2-2 IEL).

Moscow (6-7, 4-0 IEL) had to rally in both games. The Bears were down 12-5 midway through the opener, but a two-run Adams homer in the fifth sparked them.

Lakeland plays at Timberlake on Thursday in a doubleheader.

KELLOGG - Melissa Krampert hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning of the second game, capping the visiting Spartans' sweep of the Wildcats in Intermountain League play at Kellogg Middle School.

Priest River improved to 7-3, 4-1 IML.

"They're a very good hitting team," Wildcats coach Craig Turbak said. "As a young team, we made mistakes. We'll keep getting better and go from there. Hayley Zisk pitched a good game and hit the ball well. Kylee Johnson played a good third base in the second game."

Kellogg (2-8, 1-7 IML) hosts Timberlake on Tuesday.

OROFINO - Suzy Willerford had four hits for the Maniacs in a Central Idaho League win against the Lumberjacks.

St. Maries scored three runs in the fifth inning, two on an error and another on an RBI single by Kerstin Auer to score Madi McQueen.

"We made good contact on the ball all day, but hit it right at people," St. Maries coach Todd Bitterman said. "We just couldn't string anything together. Orofino is really good on defense and just a good, well-rounded team."

St. Maries (8-5, 5-1 CIL) plays host to Kendrick on Tuesday.

Orofino is 11-5, 7-0.
