Jewel Mae Denny (July 7, 1920 - March 28, 2014)

Jewel Denny, 93, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2014, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Jewel was born in Kansas City, Mo., on July 7, 1920, to Zedd C. Martin and Clara M. Rice, and was one of nine siblings.

Jewel married John L. Shoemaker and together they had one daughter, Jewell Whisner. She had three grandchildren, Robin Boykin, Paige Hirt and John Wall; seven great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson.

After John's death, Jewel married Floyd Denny.

Jewel is survived by her brother, Gene Martin of Kansas City, Mo., two grandchildren, Paige Hirt and John Wall; and her many beautiful great grandchildren and great, great grandson.

Jewel was a printer by trade and owed her own business for many years in Kansas City with her husband, John Shoemaker. Together they created beautiful catalogs for various companies for advertising purposes. After retirement, Jewel and John Shoemaker moved to Coeur d'Alene to be closer to her daughter, Diane, her husband, Chuck Wall, and their three children, Robin, Paige and John. They built a life of love, family and community in Coeur d'Alene and Hayden Lake that sustained them throughout their retirement years.

Jewel was a pillar of strength for her family over the years, and provided endless joy and love to others. In her later years she enjoyed getting to know herself better through Real Life Ministries, served as a greeter, and worked with the ladies of the Pray and Crochet Ministry to crochet.
