Community conversation

| April 8, 2014 9:00 PM

The public is invited to a "Community Conversation" at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Winton Elementary for a discussion led by architects from Longwell + Trapp and school district administrators.

Conversation topics will include the architectural design plans for the new Winton Elementary school building, the construction schedule and Winton's relocation plans for the next school year.

Winton, at 920 W. Lacrosse Ave., is one of the five Coeur d'Alene public schools scheduled for construction that are being financed by a $32.7 million bond voters approved in August 2012.

The "Community Conversation" will be informal in nature, similar to the earlier design meetings for Borah Elementary, Bryan Elementary, Sorensen Magnet School, and Canfield Middle School.

It is anticipated the Winton project will go out for construction bid later this month with construction beginning in June, shortly after the end of the school year.

Winton students and staff will be relocated to the Hayden Lake School site, currently Hayden KinderCenter, for the 2014-2015 school year while the new school is being constructed.
