DEE: Questions needing answers

| April 4, 2014 9:00 PM

The article about Dee made it sound like she needed to be removed from her home and family in order to learn about her culture. Why couldn’t she remain with her mom and still get to know her aunt, uncle and half brother?

Ripping her away from every person she has ever known is not reuniting a family. It is breaking a little girl’s heart and tearing a family apart. The aunt and uncle were given the chance to foster Dee when she entered the system at 8 months old. Why did they wait three years to decide it was important for her to be with “family?” Dee has a family; it is with Andrea. That is where she belongs.
