• Hospice hires Cowley

Hospice of North Idaho announced the addition of Nancy Cowley to its team. She will serve as the nonprofit's director of community development. Cowley was a volunteer on Hospice of North Idaho's 2014 Wine Taste Committee and has had personal experience with the organization.

Cowley will be in charge of building relationships in the community, overseeing fundraising and sharing information about Hospice of North Idaho's services and programs.

"Nancy brings much passion, knowledge and energy to Hospice of North Idaho. She is a great fit for the position," said Executive Director Kim Ransier.

Cowley previously served as admissions director for a private, faith-based school in Hawaii, and has been a meeting and event planner for several local organizations. She lives in Coeur d'Alene where she enjoys hiking, being active in her church and spending time with family, including 13 nieces and nephews.

• Cd'A native, hotel management expert

Bob McDonald, originally from Coeur d'Alene, has been named general manager for The Broadway Columbia-A DoubleTree by Hilton. This new concept hotel opened last week in downtown Columbia, Mo. He is also the vice president of food and beverage hospitality for Chesterfield, Mo., Hotels Inc. McDonald has made a name for himself in hotel management, with 25 years of experience, and as a professor for the University of Missouri's College of Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Hospitality Management Program.

• Nemec earns paralegal designation

The National Association of Legal Assistants announced that Bonte D. Nemec successfully completed the Certified Paralegal examination and is now entitled to use of the "CP" professional credential. Nemec is among 50 paralegals in Idaho and 17,822 paralegals nationwide who have attained this goal.

The Certified Paralegal program involves successful completion of a comprehensive examination covering the topics of communications, legal research, ethics, human relations and interviewing techniques, legal terminology, judgment and analytical ability and substantive law.

The National Association of Legal Assistants is a national, nonprofit organization which represents more than 18,000 paralegals through individual members and 87 affiliated state and local associations.
