LCCC: Volunteers made a difference

I would like to thank people from Lake City Community Church for helping me out on Sept. 14 during the church's Second Serve Saturday program.

Jim and Mary McKinney, Ed and Arisbeth Sauter, Alan and Janette Wilson, Kelvin Ayers and Jim Crist deserve kudos.

They did yard work, trimmed trees and helped me inside my house.

These people don't do it for recognition, but deserve to be recognized.

GARDEN: Possible thanks to supporters

John Brown Elementary wants to thank the wonderful people who helped us get started on our "Cougar Patch" - outdoor classrooms and educational gardens.

We had our first work day and built our garden beds on our cleared lot across from our school in Rathdrum, Idaho. We couldn't have done it without some amazing people who made generous donations.

Thank you to Paul Matthews, Architect, for designing our gardens; Thank you Chad Tipton of Interstate Plastic for helping us with 900 feet of irrigation pipe; Thank you Gary Williams at HD Fowler Company for the irrigation clock, box, valves, and many other parts; Thank you Ryan Mattison of MLM Mattison Landscaping and Maintenance, Robert, and the crew for the amazing irrigation work, supplies, and taking the time to visit with our students; Thank you Diana Decker at Northland Nursery for the 10 yards of the most beautiful garden soil that I have ever seen to fill our garden boxes; Thank you Mike Henley at Chilco Lumber Mill for the wood to make the garden boxes and tool shed; Thank you IGA and STCU for the food for our work day lunch.

We will begin the Native/Wildlife Habitat portion of our gardens in the spring and will need more help with cement, brick, and plants. We know our community will step up to help with this phase as well.
