STUDY: Another example of waste

| September 27, 2013 9:00 PM

Your front page bit on federal “gubmit” studying the river drainage heavy metal deposits is just more waste in and of itself. The author notes the study is needed to track and or locate areas of sediments containing heavy metals. I say no need. One merely needs to accept that the entire drainage downstream from the mining areas contains deposits detrimental to all life should they be “removed.”

As an example I submit anyone concerned spend some late spring time day virtually anywhere along the Chain Lakes. There you will find hundreds of swans dead. Cause of death, lead poisoning.

These birds have the ability to dig deeper into the mud than other migratory birds in search of young plant sprouts and as a result ingest lethal amounts of lead and arsenic in the process. Therefore, stop wasting money running around in boats taking mud samples. You know it’s there. Please leave it there. Stirring it up to remove it will only lead to more problems.
