STEWART: Not city's spokesman

| September 27, 2013 9:00 PM

Although Jerry Weaver, Brent Regan and Eileen Mann have dealt eloquently with the subject of Tony Stewart’s latest complaint, why not weigh in? What a shock that no opinions making it into print prior to Sunday agreed with Stewart’s position. It was clear that it was time to put out a call for reinforcements that rode in Sunday in the form of a full column of absolute gobbledygook courtesy of Norm Gissel.

Make no mistake, this little band is putting it on the line to get a choke hold on the mayoral candidates in order to steer them left on the record. Mr. Widmyer fell easily and quickly into line, but Joe Kunka and Mary Souza displayed courage in standing their ground declining to be “guided” or “assisted” in taking the left fork in the road.

May I add that I am not conservative, but recognize the fact that Stewart and his group are engaged in the sole purpose of picking at the scabs of old, desperately-wanting-to-heal wounds resulting from activities with which the community had no connection. Tony Stewart is not a spokesman for this community and why The Press continues to attempt to prop him up as one is inexplicable.
