POLITICS: No room for religion

| September 27, 2013 9:00 PM

Keep your faith out of politics, Mr. Gissel. I can’t imagine that you need to be reminded that there is a separation between the two. Unlike you, I won’t wait several days to see if you would like to retract any of your thoughts or comments, as I feel as if it would be an exercise in futility.

Regardless of my political opinions or religious beliefs, I take issue with your twisting of Mary Souza’s statement to somehow suit your own agenda…(one lump, or two)?

…“vote whichever way the public favors on highly charged topics when the opinion is stacked on one side, regardless of how [she] feels personally,” as stated by Mary Souza (Sept. 12), is light years away from …” having no moral values”…and …” a preemptive forfeiture of leadership,” as you have stated on Sept. 22. Despite your eloquent attempt to persuade me there is a connection, I’m not buying it and I hope no one else does, either.

Any candidate who stands on a platform to “represent the people of our community” is a platform worthy of consideration for my vote for mayor. (Go Steve Widmyer!)

Oh yeah, one more thing…the year is 2013 Mr. Gissel, just in case you forgot that, too.
