WIDMYER: Always ready to help

| September 25, 2013 9:00 PM

In 1994, when Lake City High School came into existence, at the beginning of the football season, it became clear that the Coeur d’Alene School District had not budgeted for any practice equipment for the football team.

Upon viewing this problem Steve Widmyer immediately donated $5,000 to provide the football team with the necessary equipment. Steve was determined to see the new Lake City football team get the equipment they needed to practice. This generous act to help the team was never known to the public, or the school district. Steve never mentioned it again.

That’s the kind of person Steve is. When he sees a need, especially one that will benefit kids, or the misfortunate, he goes out of his way to solve the problem without taking any credit. For those reasons, I believe Steve Widmyer to be a person of character and one who will lead Coeur d’Alene as mayor with great distinction.
