PRAYER: There is no downside

| September 25, 2013 9:00 PM

Public prayer does two things. First, realizations are renewed that we are on Earth only a short time. What we do for good needs guidance and wisdom which, in our finite selves, we may not have. Secondly, in prayer we are reminded that our forefathers prayed for understanding in establishing our nation and they verbalized awareness of answered prayers.

A particular illustration was Benjamin Franklin’s suggestion for corporate daily prayer during the turmoil of the Constitutional Convention and the suggestion to appoint a chaplain in June 1787 in Philadelphia at the Constitutional Convention. The implementation of such and resultant Divine guidance helped unite our national leaders and establish our unique nation. Franklin’s assurance that “God governs in the affairs of men” is well-known.

Can we do any less today than encourage our city, county, state and national officials to pray corporately? Have you found that when someone is praying for you that you are happier, more peaceful and life goes better?
