Ginno Construction Inc. of Coeur d'Alene was awarded the Bryan Elementary School remodel and additions general construction project for $4.1 million.

The bid was awarded Friday by the district's Board of Trustees.

The original construction budget for Bryan was $4.8 million.

"We had an extremely competitive bidding climate," stated Chief Operating Officer Wendell Wardell. "The difference between the two lowest bid packages was $1,860."

The winning bid includes a base award, plus additional "alternate" awards for roofing, bleachers and direct digital controls for heating, ventilating and air conditions.

Other alternate projects - a reader board and irrigation - will be revisited at a later date.

Ginno will begin work this fall with initial work that includes removing a portable classroom structure to create a bus loop for the school.

Major construction work will begin late spring and after school lets out in June.

Borah Elementary is the next school slated for remodel. The construction bids for Borah will be opened on Oct. 2.
