Abnormal walk leads to meth find

| September 19, 2013 9:00 PM

SPOKANE VALLEY - The suspect's walk was a big clue.

Clifford R. Hill, 45, who police say has been living in Post Falls and has been booked into the Kootenai County jail 22 times as an adult, was charged with possession of methamphetamine on Monday after corrections officers noticed he was sliding his foot along the jail floor instead of walking normally. He had just been arrested on other charges.

Under one of Hill's feet was a small paper envelope commonly used to transport and conceal illegal drugs, according to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy opened the bindle made out of a MoneyGram receipt in the name of "Cliff Hill" and found it contained meth.

After being read his rights, Hill admitted the bindle contained meth and had been concealed in his underwear/buttocks area, according to the sheriff's office.

Hill had been arrested after a traffic stop.

A deputy responded to a report of a suspicious male in a yellow Ford Mustang in the 200 block of South Park in the early morning.

The vehicle was observed by the deputy making a turn without using a signal.

Hill identified himself with an Idaho identification card with a Kootenai County address and told the deputy he didn't have a driver's license.

After checking Hill's driving status, the deputy learned Hill's driving privileges were suspended and he had a misdemeanor warrant for driving while suspended.

Hill was arrested for the two misdemeanor charges and booked into the Spokane County Jail.

Hill's bookings in the Kootenai County jail were for drugs, obstructing an officer, theft, probation violation, DUI, conspiracy and driving without privileges.
