Lakeside auction to benefit middle, high school athletes

PLUMMER - Lakeside Middle/High School, in conjunction with the Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort and the Lakeside Parent Fundraising Committee, will be holding the first Lakeside Athletic Auction on Sept. 28 at the Coeur d'Alene Casino.

All proceeds raised will go toward the athletic fund at Lakeside Middle/High School. Tickets are on sale through the Casino, the Lakeside High School office, or at all home Lakeside events until Sept. 25.

Tickets are $15 and include an appetizer buffet and a concert by the band Four on the Floor. Lakeside will also be doing the drawing for the 2014 Polaris 4x4 and the 1/2 beef. Tickets for the 4x4 are $10 each or 3 for $20 and tickets for the 1/2 beef are $2 each or 3 for $5 and can be bought through the high school office until Sept. 27.

Some items up for auction include: 5 cords of wood; a rifle; a Star quilt; homemade Adirondack chairs; legal services; Lakeside athletic passes and apparel; and paintings by local artists.

"We are very happy to be working with the Coeur d'Alene Casino in our first fundraising auction," said Jerel Hight, Lakeside athletic director, in a news release. "We haven't had such a large scale fundraising event in the history of our school. Our parent group and coaches started this when there was a chance we would lose athletics due to the failure of the levy. Now that the levy has passed, our funding has been restored, but our funds were very limited even before the levy. With the help of our parents and coaches, being able to raise money will help our teams upgrade equipment and help our programs compete at a high level."

Donations are being accepted up until Sept. 25. Auction items in new condition and gift certificates and gift cards valued at $20 or more will be accepted from individuals and businesses and can be brought or sent to the Lakeside Middle/High School office. All proceeds raised from the auction will go toward Lakeside athletes.

The silent auction portion will begin with a social hour at 5 p.m. and appetizer buffet at 6 p.m. The live auction will begin at 7. Immediately following the live auction, local band Four on the Floor will play a set. Contact Lakeside High School (686-1937) or the Coeur d'Alene Casino (1-800-523-2464) to purchase tickets, make a donation, or for any other information.
