Maynard Hendrickson, 82

Maynard (Maynie) Emil Hendrickson of Dalton Gardens, age 82, passed away on September 14, 2013. Maynard was born Aug. 15, 1931, in Arpin Wisconsin. He was one of 10 children born to Edward and Amelia Hendrickson. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara (Waade) Hendrickson, sons Ken and Voyne (Dianna) of Lewiston ID, daughter Sandra (Jack) Forstrom of Athol ID, sisters, Irene (Duane) Gleason, Myrthal Brown (Bill) of Hayden ID, Alvera Sommers of Bellview NE, Aggie Strigal of Marchfield WI , Ellie Kennedy of Hibbing MN , brother Donald (Bobbie) Hendrickson of Spirit Lake, his sister-in-law, Bonnie (Rich ) Tucker of Hayden granddaughter Haley Hendrickson of Spokane WA, grandsons Eric Forstrom of Rathdrum ID and Brian Forstrom of Liberty Lake WA, great granddaughters, Kylee and Zoee Forstrom, Oliviea Forstrom , and many nieces and nephews.He was an exceptional husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. Although Maynard didn’t say a lot, what he said was often full of humor. He spoke of both hard and fun times in the mid-west in the 1930’s. He told us that one day, he and his brothers were jumping from the barn loft onto the hay for his Grandma Lena’s cows and she chased them out with a pitchfork!Maynard lettered in baseball, basketball and track at Trent High School in S. Dakota. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a Radar man and saw many different countries during his service.Maynard was a great outdoorsman. He taught his sons to hunt, fish and to respect the land. He enjoyed camping out with family, especially his sister Irene and brother-in-law Duane Gleason. He loved children and always took time to listen to them.He was married to the love of his life, Barbara (Waade) for 58 years. They bought a small old farmhouse and five acres in Dalton Gardens in 1962. At that time, Dalton was in the middle of nowhere and co-workers asked him why the heck he moved all the way out there!He started work on the green chain in 1954 at Potlatch Lumber Mill and retired from the company in 1980 as the Purchasing Agent. After retirement, he worked at the Silver Lake Mall for several years.He was one tough ole Swede with a heart of gold. We all love and miss you Dad!!! A remembrance luncheon will be held at the Hayden Holiday Inn, 151 W. Orchard Avenue, Hayden from 12 pm to 2 pm on Saturday September 21, 2013. Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice House.
